Delay pregnancyWomen who like to freeze their eggs can intentionally postpone conceiving a baby until their 30s or early 40s. The number of eggs and their quality starts declining after 30. Freezing quality eggs in your 20s is recommended.

What happens during embryo cryopreservation?

  • Our fertility specialists make you ready for the process. We will choose an outpatient procedure for harvesting eggs.
  • We will apply ultrasound imaging technology to use a catheter and a hollow needle. The catheter passes through the vaginal wall and collects eggs. Your hormone medications and your own response can cause a difference in the number of eggs.
  • Our embryologists will fertilize the harvested eggs with sperms for embryo creation.
  • Under constant observation, embryos take 5 to 7 days for growth.
  • We take the sample of embryos for genetic testing.
  • We will grade the embryos to find ones, which will develop successfully after getting implanted.

We will freeze high-graded embryos, and it is the process of vitrification. We remove the water present in your embryo cells to add the protectant fluid. Our flash-freezing technique will prevent ice crystal formation. There is no risk of damage to your embryo cells.

Frozen embryo transfer

  • We give estrogen pills to the prospective mother.
  • We start the progesterone treatment for the uterus.
  • Monitor the patient for ovulation
  • Transfer the embryo into the uterus after 5 days of ovulation.
  • Identify the vagina to insert the catheter.
  • Inject the thawed embryos with some fluid
  • Conduct pregnancy test after 10 days of transferring embryos.

Embryo freezing - Are there any risks?

We use the egg retrieval process to collect eggs. This process may cause a few issues-

  • Infection.
  • Sedation problems.
  • Bladder and blood vessel damage due to the needle.

But, these are rare instances. They mainly occur when medications have overstimulated ovaries. That is why we closely diagnose patients during the process. We have a special lab to store frozen embryos. They can be preserved for more than 10 years.
